Nov 10 th... U-12 Trail Blazers vs. Lynnfield  W 4-3

MHD Trail Blazers vs. Lynnfield

11/10/07, 12noon 

Marblehead’s first expansion team, The Trail Blazers, cut a path to the goal twice within the first 20 minutes of its premier game against Lynnfield at Teamworks in Revere. B. Davis-Allen scored the first goal for Marblehead, with E. LaChance bending it for goal number two.  Lynnfield also got on the board in the first half with one goal.  Then with 1:40 left on the clock in the first half, O. Mitrano had a great assist to R. Flowers, giving Marblehead a 3-1 lead.  Throughout the first half, Marblehead goalie E. Peugh had some great saves and some timely clears, denying Lynnfield’s several attempts at the goal.

 In the second half, Marblehead took the ball down the field several times with great passing and ball handling by S. Rizos and J. Burke.  With 3:20 left in the second half, M.Van Dusen had a nice assist to S. Rizzos, but Marblehead was denied at the goal.  Lynnfield scored its second goal with 22.32 on the clock.  But with 12:24 remaining in the game, Mary Lt countered Lynnfield with a goal assisted by Sara R and Jackie B.  With Marblehead leading 4-2, Lynnfield scored at 11:27. But with E. LaChance’s skills in the goal, Marblehead held the line for its first win of the Indoor Season.  FINAL SCORE: 4-3

MHD Trail Blazers vs. Swampscott Blasters W 5-4

11/17/07, 12noon 

Marblehead’s U-12 Trail Blazers had a game changing performance Saturday against the Swampscott Blasters at Teamworks in Revere.  Jackie B. put Marblehead on the board within the first ten minutes with an assist from Becca D.  and Emily L.  Although Swampscott made several attempts at the goal in the first moments of the game, they were denied by skillful Marblehead Keeper Jessica B..  But at 16.40, Swampscott made its first goal, and followed it quickly with a second at 16:32.  Then with two minutes left in the half, the Blasters scored a third goal. Marblehead went to half time with a 1-3 deficit. But in the second half,

Becca D. was on fire, scoring at 21:24 with an assist from Sara R..  Then 45 seconds later, Becca D. eluded the Blaster’s defense to tie the game at 3-3.  Becca D. gave the Trail Blazers the lead with the team’s fourth goal at 16:36.  Later in the half, Emily L. boosted Marblehead’s lead by scoring the team’s fifth goal. With 1:21 left in the game, Swampscott scored its fourth goal, but Marblehead’s Isabella M., Emiley P. and MMaddy. V. used excellent defensive moves and quick footwork to ensure the team’s victory.  FINAL SCORE  5:4

MHD Trail Blazers vs. Swampscott Stars
11/24/07, 12noon

 Marblehead’s U-12 Trail Blazers suffered their first loss this season against the Swampscott Stars on Saturday at Teamworks in Revere.  Early in the first half, Marblehead Goalie Mary L. blocked several attempts by the Stars, but they eventually eluded her scoring twice in the first fifteen minutes.  Leading 2-0 late in the half, Swampscott failed to convert two penalty kicks.

Determined to get on the board, Emily L. drove the ball to the Swampscott goal twice before the buzzer but was denied.  Throughout the half, Jess B., and Racheal F. worked together to prevent the Stars from bringing the ball to the Marblehead goal but Swampscott prevailed, closing the half with its third goal.

Marblehead opened the second half with Jess B. in the goal.  At 22:01 Sarah R. scored the team’s first goal.  Ten minutes later, Trail Blazer Julia B. assisted Isabella M. for a goal that narrowed Swampscott’s lead to 3-2.  But the Stars quickly answered with three successive goals. 

Two additional attempts by Isabella M. and Olivia M. were denied by Swampscott’s tag team defense and skillful keeper.  But at 6:42 Sarah R. eluded the Stars, scoring Marblehead’s third goal.  With Marblehead trailing 6-3, Swampscott ensured its victory with a seventh goal minutes before the buzzer.FINAL SCORE  7:3

 

MHD Trail Blazers vs. Swampscott Spirit
12/1/07, 11am


The U-12 Trail Blazers took the lead early against the Swampscott Spirit with Sara R. striking first for Marblehead.  Her goal was followed by two back-to-back scores from Marblehead’s Abby L, with the second goal assisted by Megan Mc.  Then at 12:30 Swampscott eluded Marblehead’s defense to score its first goal.  With Marblehead leading 3 -1, Megan Mc. took the ball down the field for the Trail Blazers fourth goal.  With just 3:15 left in the half, Megan Mc. assisted Emily L.  to score, boosting Marblehead’s lead to 5-3.  At 1:30 Abby L. passed the ball to Jess B. who scored the Trail Blazer’s sixth goal.  But Swampscott got the last word scoring with 45 seconds left on the clock. Strategic goal tending by Kaitlin Mc. throughout the half enabled Marblehead to position for several more attempts, and for the team to hold Swampscott to two goals.   

Opening the second half with Abby L. tending goal, the Trail Blazers’ J. Beringer scored, assisted by Megan Mc. to widen Marblehead’s lead to 7-2.  Swampscott fought back, scoring its third goal at 13:52, but they were not able to close the gap. FINAL SCORE 7-3

Dec. 8th... U-12 Trail Blazers vs. Strikers... W 3-2

The first half of Saturday’s game between Marblehead’s U-12 Trail Blazers and the Lynnfield Strikers was scoreless until two minutes before the halftime buzzer.  But it wasn’t due to a lack of effort by the Trail Blazers!  The Trail Blazer’s Ally H. made three excellent attempts at 12:35, 11:38 and again at 10:51 but Lynnfield’s goalie was relentless.  Isabella M. executed a great clear that set up an additional attempt by Marblehead’s Julia B. but they were denied by Lynnfield.  And a beautifully executed assist by Julia B. to Emily L. was also blocked by the Lynnfield keeper.  With 3:36 left in the half, Emily L. tried to break Lynnfield with three consecutive shots at the goal, but the score remained 0-0.  Then at 2:18, Mary L. put the Trail Blazers on the board with a successful penalty kick.

 

Lynnfield opened the second half with a vengeance, scoring quickly at 22:24.  But Marblehead’s Becca D. answered back giving the Trail Blazers a 2-1 lead. Then at 12:01 the Strikers scored again, tying up the game. With their exceptional offensive skills, Becca D. assisted Sara R. for Marblehead’s third goal of the morning.  Then with 2 minutes on the clock, Trail Blazer Sara R. made a very well executed attempt at the goal, but Lynnfield’s goalie was right there to make the save.  What an exciting finish!    FINAL SCORE 3-2
