The
Lynnfield Panthers were on the prowl on Friday
night, striking several times within the first
minutes of the game against the Marblehead Thunder.
Lynnfield’s skills showed up quickly in their
well-honed offensive drives. The Thunder had a
difficult challenge ahead of them as they competed
with the Panther’s cleanly-executed assists and
tight teamwork.
Although Marblehead goalie A. Hopkins had several
nice saves, the Thunder wasn’t able to limit the
Panther’s scoring drives. With 2:05 remaining in the
first half, Marblehead’s H. Purchase’s attempt at
goal was denied.
In
the second half, E. LaChance assisted H. Purchase
for a second attempt which as prevented by
Lynnfield’s defense. At 17:34 E. LaChance assisted
E. Messinger for an attempt at goal but the shot was
blocked by Lynnfield. Then E. Messinger came back
with a drive at 8:33, but couldn’t get on the
board. E. LaChance executed the final Marblehead
attempt in the last minutes of the game, but the
team couldn’t convert it.

During the first half of the game between the
Marblehead Thunder and The Aztecs on Friday
afternoon, Marblehead’s goalie A. Hopkins did a good
job limiting the Aztecs’ offensive attack on the
Thunder. With many good saves, blocks and clears,
Marblehead’s defense fought hard to prevent the
Aztecs from running up the score. But The Aztecs
were able to breakthrough ending the first half
ahead of Marblehead 2-0.
During the second half, The Aztecs scored right
away, putting an additional goal on the board at
23:50. Then at 18:00 E. LaChance mounted a
promising drive but her attempt was denied. The
Thunder’s H. Cohen, M. Legget and M. Hayman
demonstrated a lot of hustle during the second half,
but the team wasn’t able to convert. At 11:26, H.
Cohen assisted Katie A. for the first Marblehead
goal of the night. FINAL SCORE: 1-4

Good defense combined with great kicks, clears, and
saves by Marblehead Thunder goalie M. Legget held
Hamilton-Wenham to one goal in the first half of
Friday night’s game. Marblehead had several chances
to get on the board in the first half, including an
attempt by A. Hopkins at 7:55 and another by E.
LaChance at 6:45. But at the buzzer, the score
stood 0-1.
The
Thunder opened the second half with goalie A.
Hopkins protecting the net. A couple of nice grabs
by Hopkins enabled Marblehead to hold
Hamilton-Wenham to one goal. But at 19:07, Hamiton-Wenham
scored its second goal. Marblehead’s offense
rallied with two attempts at goal by M. Legget, but
both were blocked. E. Messinger also mounted a drive
but her attempt was denied at 12:03. Then at 8:12,
H. Cohen dribbled the ball down the field and helped
Marblehead get on the board. With the score at
1-2, Marblehead fought hard to tie it up but
Hamilton-Wenham pulled away with its third goal at
11:59. Smart defensive moves by Marblehead limited
Hamilton-Wenham’s ability to score additional
goals. FINAL SCORE 1-3

During Friday’s U-12 indoor soccer game, the
Marblehead Thunder was just too powerful for the
Lynnfield Revolution. By focusing on their
positions and working well as a team, The Thunder
struck first -- with Katie A. driving down the field
and connecting with Maddie H. who put Marblehead on
the board at 21:49. Then at 19:51 E. LaChance and O
Mitrano. partnered up to score the second goal for
Marblehead. And it was the duo of La.Chance and
Mitrano that scored again at 16:48. With Marblehead
leading by 3-0, E. Peugh, M. Leggett and K. Adee
demonstrated some good defensive moves that
prevented Lynnfield from getting on the board. Then
at 12:57, Hannah C. passed the ball to Anna Mc. for
Marblehead’s 4th goal. But Lynnfield
would not be shut out. At 9:22, The Revolution
scored it first point. With the score now 4-1,
Jamie P. booted one past the Lynnfield goalie to
give Marblehead a commanding lead. Just as the
first half was about to end, Lynnfield scored again.
But Jamie P. had the last say with her second goal
of the night, giving Marblehead the edge with a
score of 6-2.
Marblehead dominated the second half, with two goals
by Hannah C., one by Olivia M. and the final point
scored Heather P. With Marblehead’s Maddie H. in
the goal, Lynnfield was limited to one goal in the
second half. FINAL SCORE 10-3

Marblehead Thunder was looking good during the first
half of its game against Hamilton-Wenham on Friday
afternoon. With several diving saves, Marblehead
goalie E. Peugh blocked many attempts by the
Hamilton-Wenham offense. But Hamilton-Wenham was
able to breakthrough the Thunder’s defense, striking
first at 18:29. With the score at 0-1, Marblehead’s
M. Legget mounted a drive to Hamilton-Wenham’s goal
where she teamed up with E. LaChance who tied up the
score at 1-1. Then, at 5:44, M. Leggett booted the
ball from mid field for Marblehead’ second goal of
the game. But Hamilton-Wenham answered quickly with
two goals at 4:52 and 2:48 – ending the first half
at 2-3.
During the second half, Hamilton-Wenham would not
be denied, scoring their 4th goal at
18:06, despite good defensive moves by Marblehead’s
Jamie P. and Katie A. Marblehead fought hard to
gain an edge in the second half but attempts by S.
Cuffe and M. Legget were denied. Thunder goalie A.
Hopkins had some great saves in the second half but
Hamilton-Wenham was on a roll, scoring four goals in
the last 14 minutes of the half. FINAL SCORE
