Nov 7 th... U-12 LIGHTNING vs.
Salem W 2-1
MHD
Indoor’s U12 Lightning wins their opener. MHD 2-
Salem 1
MHD
Indoor’s team Lightning opened the leagues indoor
season with a hard fought victory over Salem. U12
Lightning started with E Freedland in goal in the
1st half. Freedland was outstanding and denied
the Salem squad for the entire first half. S.
Snadecki showed promise early on using the boards
to set up teammates to score but to no avail. At
20:36 B. Matteson made a heads up assist to A.
LeBlanc who scored the first goal of the MHD Indoor
soccer season. Salem put forth several attacks on
the Marblehead net but Freedland managed to come out
aggressively and protect the goal when needed. J.
Attridge was outstanding as she played both sides of
the ball while in offense and stopped several
counters by Salem. With 7:40 left in the 1st
half A. LeBlanc sent an assist to H Verette which
Verette pumped in to give Lightning some insurance.
The second half was a nail biter as Salem came out
and for much of the 2nd half controlled
the pace of the game. Lightning fought to hold
their lead while Salem had multiple shots on A.
LaBlanc in goal. LeBlanc deflected several
successfully but one unfortunate ball rolled in
bringing our lead to only one. The entire team
rallied and with the strong defense led by S. Cayen.
J. Attridge and H. Verette.. Lightning stood firm
to ensure the win in the end. What a great way to
start the season girls!
Nov 14 th... U-12 LIGHTNING vs.
Beverly L
0-6
It was not a pretty night for
the Our U-12 Lightning as they fell 6-0 to Beverly. The
Beverly squad came out strong and never let up, they
scored their first goal within the first 4 minutes
(Kelsey M. in goal) and continued to score 3 more in the
first half alone. As good as the Beverly offense was,
their defense was even better. Lightning hardly got any
shots on goal. Despite a few attempts to score by
Sydney C., Abby B., Hannah V and Emily F., nothing went
through their tough goalie. Lily E. was also strong on
offense. The second half was a little better, Hannah V.
was in goal and she held strong, allowing only 2 goals,
while making several saves. Casey C., Jessica A. and
Rachel L. were strong on defense. Fina:

Nov. 21
st... U12 Lightning vs. Aztec
U- 11 W 5-2
Marblehead’s U 12 Lightning
triumphed over Aztec this past week to kick off the
holiday long weekend. In a tension filled close game of
passing skill and bravery in the goal, Lighting pulled
it off. It began with Hannah V. in goal and Maddie A.
coming up with the team’s first goal at 21:20. Not long
after, Aztec retaliates with a goal at 17:36. The half
continued with many shots on goal by both teams and
plenty of action for Hannah V. in goal who held the tied
game.
The second half was ours with a
rebound by Hannah V. fed to Emily F. who did not
squander her opportunity giving Lightning the lead at
20:20. Three minutes later Aztec evens the score 2-2.
With relentless defense being played by Jessica A., and
Sydney C's never ending hustle, the Aztec team was
unable to score. Mia S. took a breakaway straight to
the net with a perfect shot at 5:01. Lilly E. was
perfection in the goal confronting Aztec players left
and right and holding the lead at 3-2. Later in the
half for insurance purposes, a Mia S. assist to Emily F.
brought it to 4-2. After a long game of shots on goal
and determination, Sydney C. got her way at 11 seconds
left with a power shot into the Aztec net to seal the
deal at 5-2 Lightning.
Nov 28th... U-12 LIGHTNING
vs.
Lynnfield... W 7-1
Lightning struck again in Beverly as the girls beat
Lynnfield in an impressive 7-1 victory!! Jess A.
started the night with an un-assisted power kick to
score, less than 2 minutes into the game. Both teams
had several attempts in the first half, but with
Sydney C. in goal, Lynnfield was shut down in the
first half. Bridgette M. got the second goal in the
half at 15:52 with an assistant from Emily F.
The second half, Marblehead came out strong to
dominate the entire half Sydney C. scored the first
goal with an assist from Abby L. in the first minute
of the half. The second goal came when the Lynnfield
Goalie tried to roll and kick the ball out of the
net, Sydney C. was there waiting to score.
Marblehead is now up 3-0. Lynnfield would have
numerous chances to score, but Rachel L was stellar
in the net. The only time Lynnfield was able to get
on the scoreboard was with a penalty shot. Not too
far into the half, Sydney C. would get the "hat
trick" with a goal, assisted by Emily F. With
Marblehead ahead 5-1 on their way to victory, Emily
F. would get the 6th goal on an assistant from Abby
L. The 7th and final goal would come with less than
a minute left in the game and an unassisted goal by
Emily F.
Great job girls, Lets do it again next week!
Dec. 5th... U-12 LIGHTNING vs. Swampscott....
L 5-6
What a game! Fans of both teams were on the edge
of their seats! Nobody could have predicted the way
the game would go. When Marblehead’s U-12 Lightning
took on Swampscott’s undefeated team.MHD's Jessica
A. was in goal for the first half. Swampscott took
a quick lead and added one to it making the score
2-0 Swampscott. But two minutes later Abby L.slid
one over to Emily F. in the center to put us on the
board. At 11:50 Brigitte M. snuck one in to even
the score. Just before the buzzer Emily F. shot on
goal that rebounded out to Mia S. who put one in the
net to give the Lightning the lead at the half.
Brigitte M. takes the goal for the second half
and after numerous valiant saves, finally Swampscott
makes it even again. Despite Maddie A. tight
defense, Swampscott takes over again at 17:45 ,3-4.
They get another at 16:04, 3-5 Swampscott. Lilly
E's. determination finally paid off at 5:40 reducing
the lead to one, 4-5. Jessica A. scored to tie the
game and the crowd went wild but her goal was
answered with 2 minutes left by Swampscott, ending
the game at 6-5. We certainly gave Swampscott a run
for their money. Watch out in the Playoffs!
