Feb. 9th... U-10 KILLER B's vs. Ips.Leopards... L

The Marblehead Killer B's took on a strong Ipswich club on Saturday.  With the sure-handed Alana G. in goal, Marblehead defenders led by Eliza H. held Ipswich
scoreless for the first 22 minutes of the opening half.  Hustle from Sophie M.
and Bridget C. cleared out numerous Ipswich attacks.  On offense, good passing
from Abby  and Mariah E. created several scoring opportunities. However, a
long shot from Ipswich broke the scoreless tie late in the half, followed by two
more quick goals on loose balls in front of the goal for a 3-0 lead and momentum
at the break.  In the 2nd half, Ipswich kept up their pressure and netted their
4th goal on a 3 on 1 breakaway.  Marblehead struck back on scrappy play by Jade
and Katie P. in front of the Ipswich goal.  Ipswich scored several more goals,
however, with an aggressive offense, despite determined defense from Olivia F.
and others.  But Marblehead never gave up, scoring again on an elusive dribble
and left-footed shot by Alicia K.   Though
Ipswich finished with an 7-2 win, Marblehead showed improved skill and grit in
standing tall against the top team in the league.
