Marblehead’s U-10 Team Inferno played Lynnfield
Saturday in a game that was evenly matched.
Marblehead had control of the ball most of the
first half with great defense by Sammy M., Megan R.,
Amanda G. and Diamond B. and the offensive line of
Sarah C., Sarah T., and Julia D. who took some nice
shots but were unable to capitalize on a goal for
the first 12 minutes of the game. Finally, Sammy M.
had a great pass to Sarah C. who scored for
Marblehead to put them on the board. The girls put
on the pressure as the ball bounced in front of
Lynnfield’s net for several minutes with great shots
by Kaelyn A., Megan M. and Caroline T. Alexa S. has
incredible in goal as she saved some great shots and
shutout Lynnfield for the first half of the game.
The second half featured Sammy M. in goal.
Unfortunately, Lynnfield fired back in the first 4
minutes to tie the game 1-1. But three minutes
later, Alexa S. shot a ball off the boards to make
the assist for Julia D. to score for Marblehead,
giving them the lead once again 2-1. Offense and
defense played strong throughout the game and
Inferno displayed great teamwork and passing.
Caroline T. had a nice breakaway to score for
Marblehead again, giving them a greater lead 3-1.
It seemed as if Marblehead was going to take the win
but the tables were about to turn as Lynnfield took
control and scored two goals with six minutes left
in the game to tie the score 3-3. The excitement
rose with fans with just a few minutes left in the
game and a chance for either team to win but both
played tough and the game ended in a tie.

Danvers...T
4-4
Marblehead’s U-10 Team Inferno played the first
place Danvers team on Saturday. Inferno’s
offense came out strong when they were first to
score as Amanda G. assisted a goal by Meg. M.
putting them ahead within minutes 1-0. Danvers
fired back with a goal to tie the game 1-1. Meg
M. and Kaelyn A. worked well together as they
both put the pressure on, with several shots
off the boards when Kaelyn A. finally put the
ball in the net to score for Marblehead 2-1.
With 15 minutes left in the half, Danvers came
back to tie the score again with a hard shot
ball 2-2. Marblehead’s Sammy M. played
incredible defense thoughout the half blocking
the Danvers team from getting too close. Kaelyn
A. responded with her second goal of the night
with an assist from Diamond to take the lead
again 3-2. Despite some great saves in goal by
Amanda G. and Lucie P. Danvers hustled through
the Inferno players to regain control with two
more goals leading 4-3 but shortly after, Meg M.
displayed some nice footwork in front of the
goal when she received a pass from Caroline T.
to score her second goal of the game ending the
half in a tie 4-4.
The second half of the game was played tough by
both teams. Alexa S. and Lucie P. had some
beautiful breakaways and shots on goal but with
a strong Danvers goalie, no success. Then
Caroline T. used her speed and took a ball up
from the center line, taking a side shot to
score for Inferno’s fifth goal. Great offensive
plays by Julia D. and Sarah T. rounded out a
well played game by Marblehead. Sammy M. and
Meg M. played strong in goal 2nd half
but Danvers refused to let up and scored several
more times giving them the win 8-5. Despite the
loss, Marblehead should be very proud of their
teamwork and hustle. They will play again
Saturday, Feb. 23 .

Marblehead’s Team Inferno played a tough
team from Ipswich on Saturday. Ipswich came
out aggressive as they scored two goals
within a few minutes of the game. Inferno’s
defense of Amanda G., Sarah C., Diamond B.
Sarah T. and Sammy M. worked hard but were
unable to keep Ipswich down. Behind by 6
goals and a few minutes left in the half,
Kaelyn A. took advantage of a ball fumbled
by Ipswich’s goalie and scored for
Marblehead putting them on the board. Meg
M., Caroline T., Alexa S. and Sarah C. made
several nice passes on offense. The first
half ended with Marblehead down 6-1.
The second half of the game, Marblehead
became more aggressive. Diamond B. made
some great saves in goal. Mady M. helped
out in defense talking the ball up to her
offensive players on several occasions.
Sammy M. scored for Marblehead with a
powerful shot giving Inferno their second
goal of the game. Julia D. had some nice
shots as well some great offensive playing
by Meg. M and Alexa S. but Ipswich scored a
few more goals giving them the win 8-2.
Inferno will play Swampscott next Saturday.
