Jan.
18th.......Marblehead Heat vs. Beverly Strikers Win 8-3
The U-8 Marblehead Girls Indoor Team, the Heat, opened
their first game of the second session with a strong win
against a very good Beverly team on Saturday January
18th. To say it was a team effort is putting it mildly,
since every member of the team scored at least one goal!
In the first half, the scoring was lead by Hannah G .
with two goals along with new member Maeve C, who had a
great 1st game, and Maddie M. with a goal a piece. The
girls showed great passing on offense, and the defense
was a powerful force lead by Gabiella G. in goal. In the
second half, Sloan M. and Maggie S. were tough on
defense and each scored a goal on the offensive side. At
the end of the game, Hannah G. and Gabriella G. were a
terrific team on offense each adding a goal each to win
the game 8-3.
Jan.
26th............U-8 Heat vs. Danver's White- Win 9-5
The Marblehead U-8 Girls Indoor Team, the Heat, put
forth a not-stop effort against a good Danvers team on
Saturday. In the first half Danvers took the lead 2-0,
but Marblehead came back with four straight goals, two
by Hannah G and two by Catlin M to take the lead for
good in the game. Maeve Cl and Lizzie P were a powerful
team on defense and in goal clearing many attempts by
Danvers. Two more goals were scored by Marblehead in the
first half, one by Maggie S and one by Sloane M who
showed terrific passing skills throughout the game. In
the second half, the Heat really pored it on with one
more goal by Hannah G and two by Gabriella Gr who was
also terrific in goal during the final minutes to hold
on to the lead.
Feb 2nd...... U-8 Heat vs.
Beverly Breakers W 14-2
The Marblehead girls U-8 Indoor team played an
outstanding all around game on Saturday against the
Beverly Breakers. Marblehead's team consisted of five
players with Catlin M on the sidelines "cheering" on
crutches with a shin splint injury. Needless to say all
the girls played most of the game without many breaks
and still came up with a powerful win! Maggie S was a
offensive powerhouse scoring four goals in the first
half along with Hannah G scoring three. Gabriella G and
Maeve C were both very strong in goal in the first half,
stopping many of Beverly's attempts. In the second half,
the offense was unstoppable with two goals each by
Gabriella and Maeve, in additional to one goal each by
Lizzie P, Maggie and Hannah. A real team effort was
shown in both offense and in passing the ball to open
players and in defense by stopping the other teams
scoring opportunities.
Feb 9th..... U-8 Heat vs.
Beverly Socks L 8-5
Marblehead's U-8 Girl's Indoor Team , the Heat, put
forth a "never give up" effort against a very tough
Beverly team on February 9th, but in the end were
defeated 8-5. In the first half, Gabriela G. and Hannah
G. were a strong offensive team and had many shots to
goal that were stopped by Beverly before scoring one
goal each. Catlin M. was outstanding in goal stopping
many shots by the Beverly team. Maggie S. did a great
job shooting the goal around the goalie right before the
half to score and keep the game close. In the second
half, Maeve C. was very strong on defense clearing
many balls back to Hannah Hannah G. who scored two more
goals. Lizzie . was very strong in goal stopping many
Beverly attempts. All of the girls played their hearts
out the whole game and should be very proud of the team
work they showed even if the end result was not a win!

In the final game of the season,
The Marblehead U-8 Girls Indoor Soccer
Team "The Heat" beat a very tough team from Beverly named "The Thunder".
The
girls did an excellent job passing on offense and defending against many
shots
to our goal throughout the game. Maggie S. scored the first goal from a
pass by Sloan M. which caught Beverly off guard. Lizzie P. scored
second, taking the ball all the way to the goal. Beverly came back with
three
goals to stay very competitive. Right before the end of the first half,
Hannah
G. scored twice in a row with great passes from Catlin M. and Maeve
C. In the second half the game was tied, with three minutes left, and
Gabriela G. was working very hard on the offensive side, both passing
and shooting toward the goal. Beverly stopped many of our goal attempts
until
Maeve Caldwell got one in to take the lead for good. The girls all took
turns
defending the goal throughout the game with a fantastic team
effort to end the season with a win!
